First Relax, Then Rebuild

Just having finished my third yoga training, I am again lit up with incredible insight and wisdom that I am excited to share with you. This training was focused on Restorative Alignment and Therapeutics, a much needed style of yoga in our very yang-centered yoga world here in the USA.

What do you do for work? Do you drive a lot, work with your hands, sit a lot or use your body in different ways? All of us have lifestyles or habits that cause improper posture in some area of our bodies that can lead to imbalance, weakness or injury. By taking the time to tune in, we can find what areas of the body need to be relaxed, and which ones need to be strengthened.

This course emphasized the unique structures of each of our bodies. There is no "cookie-cutter" alignment of yoga, there is no one-size-fits-all. By finding which alignment is not functioning to its full potential, we can discover where we need to bring ease. Beginning a yoga practice in supported restorative positions, you can relax muscles that might be holding too tightly. This way, when you begin your strengthening yoga practice, the correct muscles can engage, and you can more efficiently work on your stability and flexibility.

During my classes, I focus on helping you explore your unique alignment to discover what postures are best for you to be in relaxation, and which to engage in. It makes the world of a difference when you truly embrace the unique beauty of your body, and listen to what it needs.
